Crystal Palace Football Club, affectionately known as Palace, is a pro football team located in Selhurst in the Borough of Croydon, South London, England. They play in the Premier League, the top division of English football. The club was officially founded in 1905 at the Crystal Palace Exhibition building, but its roots date back to 1861. Initially, they played their home games at the FA Cup final stadium in the Palace grounds from 1905 to 1915, until the First World War forced them to relocate. In 1924, they settled into their current home at Selhurst Park.

The club joined the Football League in 1920, and have mostly played in the top two levels of English football. Since 1964, Palace have only spent three seasons outside of the second tier, from 1974 to 1977. The most exciting season for Palace in the top flight was in 1990–91, when they came close to winning the league, finishing in third place behind Arsenal and Liverpool - their best league finish yet! Unfortunately, Palace missed out on a spot in the UEFA Cup due to limited European spots for English teams after the Heysel Stadium disaster. Palace were also one of the founding teams of the Premier League. They've made it to the FA Cup final twice, in 1990 and 2016, and have won the EFL Championship twice as well as four Championship play-off finals.

The club used to sport claret and blue kits until 1973 when they switched to the iconic red and blue vertical stripes we see today. Palace has a historic rivalry with Brighton & Hove Albion and also has strong rivalries with South London clubs Millwall and Charlton Athletic.
