Everton Football Club is a professional football team from Liverpool, England, that plays in the Premier League, the highest level of English football. The club was a founding member of the Football League in 1888 and has been competing in the top division for an impressive 121 seasons as of August 2023, only missing out on four seasons. Everton is right after Arsenal in terms of continuous presence in English top-flight football and is third in all-time points rankings. They have won nine league titles, five FA Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup, and nine Charity Shields.
Everton, founded in 1878, clinched their first League Championship in the 1890-91 season. Their trophy cabinet continued to fill up with four more League championships and two FA Cups, though they hit a rough patch after the Second World War until the swinging 60s brought them back to life. The mid-1980s saw Everton enjoy a golden era, netting two more League championships, an FA Cup, and the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup. Their most recent major victory was clinching the prestigious 1995 FA Cup.
The loyal fans, affectionately known as "Evertonians" or "Blues", cheer on their beloved team at Goodison Park, Everton's home since 1892 after a landlord dispute moved them from Anfield. Just down the road at Anfield is their fierce rival, Liverpool, with whom Everton contests the exhilarating Merseyside derby. Everton's signature royal blue shirts with white shorts and socks are unmistakable on the field.
